George Conway, that infamous anti-Trump critic, jumps into the political ring again, this time scratching and clawing his way toward a congressional seat. But don’t let his previous claims of conservatism fool you. He’s not looking to represent Republicans; instead, he wants to squeeze himself into a nice Democratic chair in New York City. That’s right, the same guy who feigned conservatism is now diving into a sea of Democrats clamoring for Jerry Nadler’s soon-to-be-vacant position.
Conway, known for his peculiar marital saga with Kellyanne Conway, is now running as a Democrat. Once a lawyer crying out against liberal policies, he’s flipped to join the very side he claimed to oppose. Maybe it’s no surprise that he finds himself comfortable among the left, eyeing New York City’s overwhelmingly Democratic seat. Those NeverTrumpers prove over and over their desire to rub shoulders with the liberal elite rather than stay with a rational conservative movement. It’s no wonder they can’t find a home in a party that stands firm against the chaos.

Even amidst the staggering mess of Democrats opening the government without securing key benefits, Conway is unhappy. Apparently, letting government employees and SNAP recipients get paid is treasonous to him unless it leaves conservatives in shambles. Instead of tackling real issues, here comes George, thinking he’s going to bring “lawyering” to politics. But what lawyering are we talking about? His endless escapades on social media, tweeting more than working? Drug tests for candidates, anyone?
Despite his cries of accountability and undoing supposed “damage,” Conway is just another talking head among the left. New Yorkers know better than to buy into his newfound liberal loyalty. Within this crowded Democratic race, it’s rich watching Conway vie for Nadler’s throne, overshadowed by the Kennedy dynasty and Nadler’s chosen successor. The real question is whether Democrats are gullible enough to take on a guy who couldn’t keep his conservative charade intact.
At the end of the day, George Conway’s sidestep into the limelight is a sideshow. He’s the exhibit of a NeverTrumper trying to find relevance. As he joins the liberal ranks, one must wonder: Is there any principle left in today’s political grifters, or is it always about warming that coveted seat, no matter if it’s red or blue? Whether or not Conway’s antics lead anywhere, it’s clear his brand of “conservatism” never had roots too deep. What next, George? A keynote at a Democratic National Convention?
