Goldman Sorry After Outrage for ‘Eliminate Trump’ Comment

Rep. Daniel Goldman recently issued an apology for his choice of words after stating that former President Donald Trump needs to be “eliminated”. In a candid moment during a Sunday interview with Jen Psaki on MSNBC, the New York Democrat expressed his concerns about Trump’s rhetoric, referring to it as an increasing danger.

Goldman clarified his statement, saying that he used the wrong word to convey his point about the importance of preventing Trump from becoming President again. While he firmly believes that Trump must be defeated, he emphasized that he does not condone political violence and bears no ill will towards the former President. Recognizing his mistake, Goldman sincerely apologized for his poor choice of words.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung reacted to the incident by downplaying Goldman’s comment, stating that it was not surprising considering Democrats’ history of calling for violence against President Trump and his supporters. Cheung argued that such rhetoric has become commonplace and predictable from the Democratic party.

Conservatives on social media, however, were quick to condemn Goldman’s remarks. In a tweet, Turning Point USA and conservative activist Charlie Kirk compared the hypothetical consequences that a Republican would face for making similar comments about a Democratic candidate, suggesting that the double standard was unfair. Meanwhile, political consultant and Trump supporter Alex Bruesewitz called for House Speaker Mike Johnson to censure Goldman.

As the lead candidate for the Republican Party, President Trump continues to enjoy strong support, with some polls even showing him ahead of President Biden. The controversy surrounding Goldman’s remarks only serves to highlight the deep political divisions and passionate emotions that continue to define American politics.
