Google’s new AI search tool is crushing small businesses across America. The tech giant’s so-called “AI Overviews” are stealing clicks from hard-working entrepreneurs who built their websites to attract customers. This is just another example of Big Tech trampling on the little guy while making billions.
The numbers tell a scary story that should worry every patriotic American. Website clicks have dropped by 30 percent even though search views went up by 49 percent. Google is basically keeping people on their own site instead of sending them to small businesses that desperately need those visitors.
Small business owners who create helpful content are getting hit the hardest. These are the mom-and-pop shops that answer questions and provide real value to their communities. Now Google’s AI just steals their information and presents it as their own, leaving these businesses with nothing.
Google claims they’re helping businesses by showing “more links” but that’s corporate doublespeak. The reality is that fewer people are clicking through to actual websites. One study found that 69 percent of news searches now result in zero clicks to news websites, up from 56 percent just last year.
This is what happens when we let tech monopolies control the flow of information. Google has too much power over how Americans find and consume information. They can decide which businesses succeed or fail with a simple algorithm change.
The timing couldn’t be worse for struggling small businesses already dealing with inflation and economic uncertainty. Many entrepreneurs invested thousands of dollars building educational websites to attract customers. Now that investment is being wiped out by Google’s greedy AI experiment.
Conservative Americans need to wake up to this threat against free enterprise. When one company can control whether millions of small businesses get customers or not, we’ve lost our economic freedom. This is exactly the kind of corporate tyranny our founders would have fought against.
Small businesses are the backbone of our great nation, not Silicon Valley tech companies. We need leaders who will stand up to Big Tech bullies and protect the American dream. Until then, hardworking entrepreneurs will continue to suffer while Google gets richer.
