In a bold and courageous move, a group of Republican lawmakers have stood up against the Biden Administration’s wasteful spending and demanded that no taxpayer dollars be wasted on supporting the United Nations’ climate refugee agenda. These lawmakers, led by Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt, are shining a light on the United Nations International Office of Migration’s ludicrous $2.7 billion fundraising goal for 2024 in order to help so-called migrants who claim to be displaced by climate change.

It’s no secret that the United Nations loves to throw around taxpayer money like it’s confetti at a liberal convention. Despite receiving billions from member countries, they have the audacity to ask for even more in this new appeal. The nerve! But thankfully, these conservative lawmakers are putting their foot down and demanding accountability. After all, why should American taxpayers foot the bill for a problem that doesn’t even officially exist?
It’s downright laughable that the UN has come up with this new term, “climate refugees,” to describe those who supposedly flee from “persecution, violence, and human rights violations occurring in relation to the adverse effects of climate change and disasters.” It’s clear that they are just trying to tug at our heartstrings and guilt us into opening up our wallets. But rest assured, these lawmakers see through the smoke and mirrors and are not falling for it.
Senator Schmitt, not one to back down from a fight, has even introduced a bill entitled “No Tax Dollars for the United Nations Climate Agenda Act.” This bill would finally put an end to the wasteful spending on the UN’s climate agenda and ensure that American taxpayers’ hard-earned money is put to good use. It’s refreshing to see lawmakers who are willing to stand up for fiscal responsibility and refuse to let the Biden Administration sneakily fund the UN’s climate agenda behind closed doors.
In a letter addressed to USAID Administrator Samantha Power, these Republican lawmakers made their stance clear. They are demanding that the administration commit to not giving a single penny to the United Nations’ climate agenda. And they have every right to be concerned. We all know how crafty the Biden Administration can be when it comes to finding loopholes and hidden ways to fund their pet projects. But these lawmakers are watching closely and won’t let a single dollar slip through the cracks.
It’s time for the United States to prioritize its own citizens and stop wasting money on the United Nations’ empty promises. As Senator Schmitt and his fellow Republicans are showing, it’s possible to be fiscally responsible while still addressing legitimate concerns. Let’s hope that the Biden Administration listens to the voice of reason and stops wasting our hard-earned money on UN fantasies.
