Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) has made it crystal clear that he is sticking to his guns and retiring early from Congress this coming April, much to the chagrin of the House GOP leadership, who pleaded with him to stay. It’s like a high-stakes game of “Please Don’t Go” with a dash of political drama!
The Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson (R-LA), along with other House leaders, have been bending over backward to convince Gallagher to change his mind. But it seems their pleas have fallen on deaf ears, as a loyal source close to Gallagher spilled the beans that his decision “has not changed.” Talk about determination!
RINOs like @RepKenBuck and @RepGallagher are so desperate to collect a lobbyist paycheck that they're willing to let the Democrats seize control of the House. Their legacy has been written in stone: turncoats and traitors. https://t.co/doBClt7lVD

Gallagher had the entire GOP leadership on their toes, with Johnson reportedly pulling out all the stops to persuade him to extend his stay in Congress. And while the Speaker’s political posse declined to comment on the matter, the behind-the-scenes action must have been as intense as a turkey trying to escape Thanksgiving dinner!
With Gallagher’s early departure, Johnson is looking at a potentially nail-biting one-seat majority, thanks to the retirement of Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) and a likely Democratic successor in the special election for former New York Democratic Rep. Brian Higgins. Every. Vote. Counts. It’s like a game of political musical chairs, but with serious consequences!
Even though Johnson bid his adieus to Gallagher and wished him well in his future endeavors, it’s clear that the GOP’s razor-thin majority in the House has got them on edge. Will they manage to keep the House in order without Gallagher’s presence? Only time and some good old political maneuvering will tell!
