Republicans are already cooking up plans to leave their Democratic rivals in the dust and fast-track Trump’s agenda come 2024, should they clinch control of both the White House and Congress. Forget bipartisan cooperation; the GOP is gearing up to deploy every legislative trick in the book to push through their policies on a solo mission.
House GOP leaders are huddling over strategies to wield legislative weapons like budget reconciliation, a handy tool that can bulldoze through Senate filibusters and dodge Democrat roadblocks. The planning apparently kicked off “more than a month ago,” according to Majority Whip Tom Emmer. House leaders want to ensure every rank-and-file member is well-versed in these maneuvers, aiming to educate them in the coming weeks.
Reconciliation allows the majority party to ram through certain bills with a simple majority, effectively silencing the minority party’s objections. One only needs to recall how Biden and his Democrat cronies pushed through the Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan when the Republicans were caught watching from the sidelines. Trump himself used it to enact his signature Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, proving its potency.
Emmer hinted that it’s too early to dive into specifics but teased that making Trump’s tax cuts permanent is high on the agenda. Border security also tops the list, with plans to reform parole, overhaul the asylum system, complete the border wall, reinstate ‘Remain in Mexico,’ and scrap the disastrous ‘catch and release’ policy. House Republicans have a clear to-do list for day one (and likely before the caffeine kicks in).

According to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, President Trump’s return would be the green light for a bold, action-packed agenda from the get-go. Scalise laid it out plainly: Trump’s priorities are what America needs, and they intend to kick off an aggressive 100-day legislative blitzkrieg.
One Trump proposal already making waves is eliminating taxes on tips, a hit with the public and poised to be a priority if Republicans dominate both chambers next year. House Speaker Mike Johnson is on board and has promised an ambitious first 100 days that’ll send Democrats scrambling for cover.
Armed with a slew of Trump-backed ideas, Republicans are ready to pounce. The House leadership expects a larger GOP majority and are set on using it to maximum effect. While Democrats busy themselves with their usual antics, the GOP is preparing for political D-Day to deliver Trump’s vision for America.
