In some sad news today, former Democratic Senator Jean Carnahan of Missouri has passed away at the age of 90. According to those snoopy folks at the Associated Press, Carnahan died after a brief illness. Although let’s be honest, folks, when you’re 90 years old, every illness is brief.
Now, let’s take a walk down memory lane. Carnahan was appointed to the Senate in 2000 to replace her late husband, Democratic Governor Mel Carnahan. You see, her husband had defeated Republican Senator John Ashcroft in the 2000 election, but unfortunately, he couldn’t serve because he had tragically died in a plane crash. Talk about bad luck!

But don’t worry, conservatives, our side got the last laugh. Carnahan only served until 2002, when former Republican Representative James Talent won a special election to take over her seat. It’s like a conservative cherry on top of the cake, folks!
Of course, the Democrats are pouring out their crocodile tears over this news. Even Republican Governor Mike Parson had to join the bandwagon, posting a statement on social media. I mean, come on, Governor! Let’s not pretend like you were a big fan of Carnahan. We all know you’re just trying to score some points with the left.
Now, don’t get me wrong, folks. I’m not heartless. I’m sure Carnahan was a lovely person and she had her fair share of accomplishments. But let’s not forget that this is a biased news outlet, so you’re not going to hear about any conservative criticisms or opposing opinions here. You’ll have to look elsewhere for that kind of fair and balanced reporting.
Rest in peace, Jean Carnahan. But let’s also remember that her departure from the Senate paved the way for a Republican victory. And for us conservatives, that’s definitely something to celebrate.
