Republicans in Congress rallied behind former President Trump on Thursday night after news broke of an indictment against him on charges related to mishandling classified documents. They slammed the investigation as yet another example of the left’s political witch-hunt against the former president.
Representative Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo) issued a statement expressing her concern regarding the criminal prosecution of political adversaries. Congressman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) took to Twitter and called Trump’s indictment affirmations of the rule of law. He added that the former president had behaved as if he were above the law for four years.
Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) expressed his sadness and extended his best wishes to the former president. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tweeted that Democrats would quake in their shoes when they saw the overwhelming poll numbers and the Trump rallies. She urged Republicans to win in 2024.

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-Fl.) called the indictment a phony ‘Boxes Hoax” against President Trump. He claimed that it represented the most severe election interference from the federal government.
Late Thursday, Trump was listed as a criminal defendant, charged with at least seven counts related to obstruction of justice, conspiracy, and illegal retention of classified material. He was summoned to appear in federal court in Miami at 3 pm on Tuesday.
In response to the indictment, Trump said on Truth Social that he was an innocent man and that it was a dark day for America. He vowed to make America great again, even as the left relentlessly pursued him.
