Finally, some good news for Republicans! While the rest of their party suffered major losses during the off-year elections, Mississippi proved to be a safe haven for the GOP. Decision Desk HQ called the race in favor of Gov. Tate Reeves, and boy, did he make it look easy. No need for a runoff against Democrat Brandon Presley – Reeves just sailed on through.

You might be wondering, why was this race so important? Well, according to the brilliant Salena Zito, abortion may have been the Democrats’ glimmer of hope in Mississippi. After all, it was the very state where the law leading to the overturning of Roe v. Wade came from. But let’s not forget, my fellow conservatives, that the pro-life movement has consistently come out on top. Abortion is a losing issue for those misguided liberals.
Let’s also give credit where credit is due. Gov. Reeves had the honor of receiving an endorsement from none other than the legendary Donald Trump – both the former and hopefully future president. Even Donald Trump Jr. took to the stage to support Reeves. But hey, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for Trump’s endorsed candidates that night. Unfortunately, Republican Daniel Cameron couldn’t secure a win in Kentucky. You win some, you lose some.
In his acceptance speech, Gov. Reeves thanked President Trump, and the crowd went wild. Can you blame them? He even had the pleasure of chatting with Trump right before his victory was announced. Talk about a winning moment. And let’s not forget Mississippi’s undying support for Trump. The state practically worshiped the ground he walked on, giving him nearly 58 percent of the vote in 2016 and 2020.
Of course, the GOP couldn’t help but shower Reeves with their congratulations. Ronna McDaniel, the Chairwoman of the GOP, expressed her delight and commended Reeves for navigating the treacherous waters of Mississippi politics. Even Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA), Chairwoman of the Republican Governor’s Association (RGA), chimed in with her congratulations. It’s clear that conservative leadership and the “Mississippi Miracle” prevailed once again.
