The looming federal government shutdown in 2025 is set to significantly impact critical assistance programs like SNAP and EBT, which millions of American families rely on for food security. Without new federal appropriations, the U.S. Department of Agriculture will not have funding to send that aid out, potentially cutting off food assistance to millions starting November 1.
