House Speaker Mike Johnson and President Joe Biden may be in for a rowdy State of the Union address on Thursday as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene hinted she may not heed Johnson’s plea to refrain from heckling the president.

Greene, who famously called Biden a “liar” during a prior address before Congress, defended the idea of calling out the president, citing concerns about the country’s growing debt and the tragic death of Laken Riley, allegedly at the hands of an illegal immigrant.
The White House, perhaps unsurprisingly, has taken a defensive stance, claiming they are “ready for anything” the House Republicans decide to do during Biden’s address. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre even went as far as to commend Biden for how he handled heckling during his 2023 speech.
Leading the charge against Biden’s address, Sen. Katie Britt is expected to deliver the Republican response to the president’s yearly speech.
But as the countdown to Biden’s address begins, it seems tensions are high and it’s anyone’s guess how the evening will unfold. Will Greene take center stage with her critiques of the president, or will decorum prevail? Only time will tell.
