Gun Control: Here’s Who’s Stripping Away Your Constitutional Rights!

When it comes to gun control, the blame game between Democrats and Republicans is always in full swing. And let’s be honest, the Democrats have a pretty strong case. From Franklin D. Roosevelt to Gavin Newsom, they have consistently been at the forefront of pushing for stricter gun control measures. Take the National Firearms Act of 1934, for example, which essentially banned certain firearms unless you paid a hefty tax. And let’s not forget the Gun Control Act of 1968, signed by another Democrat, President Johnson. It’s clear where the Democrats stand on this issue.

But hold on a minute, it’s not as simple as just pointing fingers at the left. Republicans have had their fair share of involvement too. Sure, states like Idaho, Utah, and Texas have championed gun rights with their “Constitutional Carry” bills, but there are some Republican governors and legislators who have jumped on the gun control bandwagon. And at the federal level, their track record is pretty lackluster. The only pro-gun legislation they’ve managed to pass is the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act of 2005, which shields gun stores and manufacturers from lawsuits. Not exactly a game-changer.

So why have Republicans fallen short on gun rights? Well, they’ve had plenty of opportunities in the past twenty years, with six years of complete power. But what did they accomplish? Not much, besides the PLCAA. And let’s not forget about Trump. Despite having the support of gun owners and the NRA, he went ahead and used an executive order to ban bump stocks. Talk about a betrayal.

The truth is, when it comes to gun control, both sides have their flaws. Democrats actually follow through on their promises, whether you agree with their stance or not. Republicans, on the other hand, love to talk big during election time, but when they’re in power, it’s all talk and no action. It’s time for them to step up and defend our Second Amendment rights like they promised. Otherwise, it might be time to find some new leaders who actually walk the walk.
