Vice President Kamala Harris might want to double-check her facts before claiming that former President Donald Trump is hiding from the American people in her latest remarks from North Carolina. It’s pretty ironic that Harris is accusing anyone of hiding, considering she has been largely absent during her tenure as the so-called “Border Czar.” Perhaps the only thing she’s managing to hide is a coherent policy position on the border crisis, amid the chaos that has unfolded under her watch.
While she made her claims, Trump is apparently too busy sprinting ahead in the race to pay her any mind. The former president’s campaign is a whirlwind of energy, racking up endorsements and releasing plans to resurrect the nation from the wreckage that Harris has contributed to. It’s clear that while Trump is traversing the country engaging with voters and addressing their concerns, Harris seems stuck in neutral, trying to craft her narrative from her preferred podiums rather than the border or any real issue.

The Border Patrol Union’s endorsement loss for Harris speaks volumes. Perhaps her attendance record at the southern border could have used some improvement. When you’re the designated border expert, one would think showing up at the scene of the disaster might be a priority. Instead, she has managed to cloak herself in invisibility amid one of the biggest crises facing the nation.
When Harris asserted that Trump lacks transparency, one has to pause and question the absurdity of her statement. In the midst of her own administration, where many of her actions and decisions have been wrapped up in ambiguity, she dares to lecture Trump about being open? Social media users, who seem to be in agreement, have had a field day pointing out the irony of her accusations. It appears that Harris is quite adept at handing out rope, although not the type that might assist in rescuing her sinking political career.
The mockery was swift as users highlighted her own shortcomings while flinging accusations at Trump. The irony of her claiming Trump isn’t “healthy enough” to govern is rich, given her role as Biden’s trusty sidekick for the last four years. As her administration struggles to establish any sort of dominance on key issues, it’s hard not to chuckle at the sheer gall of her remarks.
Her comments about transparency only underscore the vast chasm between her claims and the reality of her performance in office. Many are baffled by how she could question anyone’s transparency when her own record has been a veritable black hole of visibility. Indeed, she’s been notably absent when it comes to addressing important national concerns or engaging with media, only popping up under pressure or to align with her boss’s agenda.
In contrast, Trump has always been committed to being present for his supporters, taking his message directly to the American people—a tactic that has proven effective time and again. This is where he excels, feeding off the energy of rallies and debates while Harris struggles under the weight of her own failures and the Biden administration’s faltering agenda. By attacking Trump on his biggest strength, she highlights her own weaknesses and the reasons why the polls continue to favor him. Come November 5, expect many to be surprised as voters turn in droves, leaving her and her administration in the rearview mirror.
