When it comes to addressing the storm of pro-Hamas protests that recently took over Union Station in Washington D.C., Vice President Kamala Harris seems to be playing catch-up. After a crowd emblazoned with Hamas flags tore down American flags and lit them ablaze, Harris made a statement nearly 24 hours later that seemed like an obligatory response rather than a heartfelt condemnation.
Harris described the actions of the “protestors” as despicable, yet she refrained from naming names or advocating for any actual consequences for their actions. While she acknowledged that associating with Hamas—an organization known for their feasts on violence and disdain for democracy—is a bad thing, it’s almost as if she’s trying to placate two sides. There’s a fine line between supporting free speech and letting terrorists take the stage. Her statement had all the robustness of a soggy piece of toast rather than the bold assertion one would expect during an attack on American values.
This strong statement from @KamalaHarris may well mark the beginning of the end of the pro-Hamas movement.

To make matters even more entertaining, Harris lamented the desecration of the American flag, that emblem of freedom and pride. In her now-infamous statement, she reiterated that the flag symbolizes American ideals while simultaneously downplaying the cringe-worthy act of replacing it with a banner of an organization that thrives on chaos. Yes, she claimed to support peaceful protests, but who knew that meant giving a free pass to antisemitism while endorsing full-blown anarchy?
The irony in her remarks is hard to miss, especially considering her prior friendliness towards the pro-Hamas narrative. Back on October 7, when Hamas terrorists were busy conducting a murderous rampage in Israel, Harris failed to firmly denounce the attackers. Instead, her prior encounters with the “peaceful” side of the fence could leave one to wonder whether her sympathies lie more with the flag-burners than with the flag itself.
It would be a real showstopper if she could muster some coherent outrage, especially after her stepdaughter’s online fundraising for UNWRA, the group infamously linked to funding terrorism. When a family member is raising cash for organizations that facilitate violence, it sends a confusing message to Americans trying to process the ongoing crisis. So, while Harris stumbles through her contradictory statements, the White House remains silent on President Biden’s end, leaving onlookers to wonder if they’re in a comedy sketch or a tragic political drama.
