Harris Takes Charge as Biden Soaks Up Sun at the Beach”

Kamala Harris is certainly making the most of her time in the spotlight. With President Joe Biden enjoying a beach vacation, the vice president has been assertively giving speeches and taking shots at Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida.

During a recent appearance in Orlando, Harris expressed her firm stance on an undeniable fact: there were no redeeming qualities of slavery. She has been receiving criticism for her lackluster performance and frequent inability to stay on message, causing some to question whether she would be fit for the presidency should anything happen to Biden. However, lately she has been more aggressive, challenging top GOP candidate DeSantis and stepping in to fill the void left by the president with a series of high-profile speaking engagements.

Harris has been vocally pushing her agenda in Florida, attacking DeSantis and accusing him of wanting to replace history with lies. She even mentioned that she believes middle school students in Florida should be taught that enslaved people benefited from slavery. While some critics argue that her comments are based on a single point in a limited course, her speech has caused quite a stir. Even prominent black lawmakers like Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Byron Donalds have echoed her concerns.

In response to Harris’s attacks, DeSantis called her misinformed and invited her to Florida to discuss the state’s black history standards with educators who helped create them. Despite the invitation, Harris returned to Florida and continued to criticize DeSantis during a church convention in Orlando. She adamantly refused to engage in a debate with him.

While Harris has been focused on DeSantis, she has made other headline-grabbing remarks as well. She stood up to defend Biden against impeachment talk, dismissing it as political games and even boasting about her own high approval ratings.

Harris’s busy schedule is also worth mentioning. This week alone, she did a television interview, gave a speech in Orlando, met with the prime minister of Mongolia, spoke about infrastructure spending, and made campaign stops in Wisconsin. It seems like she is actively trying to make her case for a future presidency.

Of course, Harris has her fair share of critics. Her approval ratings are not great, with only 40.7% approving and 52.7% disapproving, according to the RealClearPolitics average. Conservatives especially criticize her for her role in addressing migration at the southern border, often referring to her as the Biden administration’s border czar.

Despite the criticism, Democrats like Sasha Tirador, a Florida-based Democratic strategist, are happy to see Harris behaving more energized. They have been wondering where she has been all this time and are glad to finally see her stepping up. Better late than never, right?

Overall, it’s clear that Harris is taking advantage of her time in the spotlight, going after DeSantis and pushing her agenda. Whether people agree with her or not, she is making her presence known and making a case for her own future presidency.
