Vice President Kamala Harris has thrown a tantrum over former President Donald Trump’s recent appearance at Arlington National Cemetery. In a move that made waves on social media, Harris accused Trump of disrespecting “sacred ground” all in the name of a supposed “political stunt.” Who knew Arlington had a bouncer trying to enforce the sanctity of the place against the likes of a former commander-in-chief?
The incident revolves around an alleged “altercation” involving a staff member at Arlington who was none too pleased when Trump’s team attempted to take photos in section 60, where they were paying homage to the 13 service members killed during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. The nerve of someone who’s trying to honor the fallen! Yet, in typical fashion, Harris has chosen to redirect the narrative. Rather than focusing on the honor bestowed to these heroes, she opted to take the opportunity for an attack against Trump, claiming this was just another example of his alleged disrespect for veterans.

Harris made it clear that she believes Arlington is a hallowed place reserved strictly for honoring heroes, not a venue for political theater. Ironically, she seems keenly unaware of the fact that her own administration has failed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths of those 13 soldiers. Instead of discussing accountability for those tragic losses, Harris would rather lambast Trump, who, in her view, crossed a line by being available to honor the service members. Talk about a political masterclass in hypocrisy.
In a stunning oversight by the Biden administration, both the President and Vice President declined invitations from Gold Star families to attend the ceremony. One might think that showing up to support those mourning the ultimate sacrifice would be a priority. Yet, in what seems like a case of profound negligence, they opted to sit this one out. While they choose to mock Trump, it’s worth noting that it was the families themselves who welcomed him. Apparently, the GOP camp is more in touch with these grieving families than Harris and Biden are.
Criticism for Harris has not come solely from Trump supporters. Republican Senator JD Vance slammed her in a statement that caught many off-guard. Vance took her to task for her response, lambasting her for focusing on Trump’s attendance rather than addressing the real disgrace—the loss of American lives and her own administration’s negligence regarding it. His passionate argument cut through the noise, branding her response as disgraceful while reminding everyone of the critical duty she has forgotten: to honor and respect the sacrifices made by American service members.
If the Vice President wants to compete in the outrage Olympics, she might want to consider the stakes first. After all, no one really cares about who gets to take selfies when personal sacrifices on the battlefield are at the center of the conversation. Perhaps it’s time for the Democrats to stop using veterans as a political punching bag while they ignore the real issues facing Gold Star families across the country.
