Even the New York Times, a usually left-leaning publication, begrudgingly admits that Hunter Biden is causing political trouble for his father, President Joe Biden. The First Son is facing a federal indictment for a gun charge, and his past business dealings, drug use, and sex life have repeatedly brought negative attention to the president. Despite this, Joe Biden is unable to say no to his son, which has created an “unexpected political peril” for him.
Upon learning of Hunter’s possible indictment, the president reportedly became sad and frustrated. His confidants say that his tone when discussing Hunter now carries a sense of resignation. Aides have privately criticized Biden’s inability to take the Hunter situation seriously, claiming that his loyalty to his son has resulted in unnecessary political distractions. It seems that the president’s inability to set boundaries with Hunter has cost him political capital.
The New York Times piece tries to paint a sympathetic picture of Hunter’s struggles and Joe’s unwavering loyalty. However, it’s hard to buy into this family allegiance when President Biden refused to acknowledge his own granddaughter for four years. The Times conveniently forgets to mention this fact.
It’s interesting that the New York Times is finally acknowledging the political price Biden is paying for his relationship with Hunter. For years, they dismissed the “Laptop from Hell” scandal as right-wing propaganda. But now, even they can’t hide the growing smell of corruption. It seems like the rats are jumping off a sinking ship.
