Following Joe Biden’s seemingly secure grasp on the Democratic presidential nomination after the recent failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, Hollywood insiders have shifted their focus towards DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg, according to a report by Breitbart News.
After efforts within the Democratic Party to replace Biden as the nominee were quelled in light of the assassination attempt on Trump, a sense of unity now prevails among Democrats as they gear up for a historic moment not witnessed in over four decades.
Despite initial doubts among Democrat donors about Biden’s age and ability to run for another term, Katzenberg, who serves as Biden’s re-election co-chair, managed to sway skeptics and rally support for the President. However, following Biden’s lackluster performance in a debate against Trump, where he struggled with speech and coherence, donors who had contributed significant amounts to the Biden campaign began expressing dissatisfaction.
Notably, prominent figures from Hollywood like George Clooney, Reed Hastings, Rob Reiner, Michael Douglass, and Ari Emmanuel called for Biden to step aside in favor of a younger candidate. This push for Biden to bow out waned as the failed assassination attempt on Trump shifted momentum in the President’s favor.
Subsequently, Hollywood insiders have turned their frustration towards Katzenberg, blaming him for misleading them about Biden’s capabilities and health. Several sources reported feelings of resentment towards Katzenberg, accusing him of prioritizing his own interests and attempting to prop up Biden despite doubts within the donor community.

Some critics suggested that Katzenberg’s actions were motivated by jealousy towards his DreamWorks co-founders, Steven Spielberg and David Geffen, especially following the failure of Katzenberg’s tech platform Quibi in 2020.
Despite the backlash, Barry Diller, a Democratic donor and longtime colleague of Katzenberg, publicly defended him, commending his fundraising efforts and loyalty to the President. While tensions simmer within Hollywood circles, the fallout from Biden’s performance and the failed assassination attempt continue to shape the political landscape as the election draws nearer.
