The committee, steered by the unflappable Rep. Jim Jordan from Ohio, is investigating whether Ms. Merchan’s cozy dealings with the political left throw a wrench into her father’s ability to be impartial while judging Trump’s fate. The implications are significant: could her business ties have influenced Judge Merchan’s rulings? That’s the million-dollar question—and not the kind of million that’s going to be graciously donated to his daughter by Biden’s camp.
The committee made no bones about its concerns in its communication to Authentic Campaigns’ CEO. It basically served notice that the potential profit from putting the screws to Trump through a convicted ruling could very well have bolstered prompt decisions made by Judge Merchan. The fear is that, with everything on the table, impartiality is a mere afterthought, leaving Judge Merchan’s objectivity hanging by a thread.
In a letter to the CEO, the committee did not mince words about the way in which local prosecutors, including Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, are wading into murky waters that many feel have become a lagoon of partisan politics.
