House Judiciary Committee presses on with Hunter Biden investigation

The House Judiciary Committee is gearing up to continue its quest into Hunter Biden’s questionable activities, despite President Biden’s recent sweeping pardon that covers a decade of alleged transgressions. It’s almost as if Hunter’s life reads like a Hollywood script, filled with plot twists and family drama. Chairman Jim Jordan has made it clear: the investigation isn’t going anywhere. After all, with such a family legacy, there are bound to be a few skeletons left to uncover, and Congress isn’t closing the coffin just yet.

The pardon announced last month can only be described as a classic deflection move typical of a beleaguered administration. President Biden attributed the need to wipe the slate clean to the Republicans, claiming they forced his hand and violated voter trust. This seems like an excuse that wouldn’t fly if any other average American were in trouble. Perhaps the President believes that granting a pardon for his son will make the myriad of allegations disappear like last week’s leftovers. Spoiler alert: It won’t.

Jordan highlighted that despite the pardon, there are still avenues to probe deeper, including interviewing special counsel David Weiss, the very individual who recommended prosecution on charges of gun violations and tax evasion. It’s a simple equation: where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and interview Weiss they shall. It appears that their strategy might involve peeling back layers of an onion—one that could lead them straight to the family dinner table filled with questionable business dealings.

Despite all this hullabaloo, Jordan maintained that he won’t be investigating the President’s pardon itself, even though he personally disagrees with it. One can’t help but admire the restraint. After all, it takes a certain kind of political maturity to recognize that a sitting president holds the power to grant pardons, even if it feels like giving a free pass to a crime spree. Still, it’s a head-scratcher that pardoning one’s son over serious allegations has become a mere footnote in this saga.

While Jordan and his colleagues continue their chase, one can’t shake the feeling that this investigation is as much about optics as it is about justice. With President-elect Trump proclaiming his intent to go after his adversaries, it feels as if we are right in the midst of a gripping political drama unfolding before our very eyes. Whether this investigation yields results or merely entertainment remains to be seen, but for now, it offers a glimpse into why many Americans are keeping a close watch on the Biden family circus.
