Republican leaders in the House of Representatives are urged to combat antisemitism on campus.
Virginia Foxx (R-NC), chairwoman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, has requested that three university administrators testify before Congress regarding the increase in antisemitic sentiments on college campuses. This action is an endeavor by the House Republican Party to suppress anti-Jewish protests and demonstrations.

Foxx notified Yale University President Peter Salovey, University of Michigan Chancellor Santa Ono, and University of California, Los Angeles Chancellor Gene Block of their attendance at an Education committee hearing on May 23. Foxx underscored the significance of holding university administrators accountable for their handling of antisemitic incidents on campus during a press conference.
A number of university administrators have compelled the committee to hear their accounts in the past, and some have since tendered their resignations. Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, have demanded the resignation of Minouche Shafik, the president of Columbia University. In contrast, House Democrats have issued dire warnings regarding the potential repercussions that may ensue should Shafik neglect to address the situation on her campus.
Additional committees, including the House Energy and Commerce, Judiciary, and Oversight, have also declared their intentions to combat antisemitism. Chairwoman of the Energy and Commerce Committee Cathy McMorris Rodgers declared that the committee will pursue legal action against those who violate the Civil Rights Act and increase supervision of institutions that have received public funds.
Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, underscored the critical nature of antisemitic conduct in terms of national security. He demanded that the State Department and the Homeland Security Department furnish details pertaining to students who participated in protests concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Jason Smith, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, disclosed that the committee has requested universities to provide details regarding disciplinary actions taken against individuals who make suicide threats and funding from foreign governments.
The House Republicans have unequivocally stated that universities will be held accountable for policy demands and possible funding reductions, among other consequences, if they do not confront antisemitism on campus.
Without receiving a response, Yale, UCLA, and the University of Michigan have been contacted by the Washington Examiner regarding this matter.
In general, House Republicans are exerting pressure on university administrators to implement tangible measures to combat antisemitism on college campuses.
