Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, was indicted by special counsel David Weiss on multiple felony firearms charges. Among these are making false statements on a federal background check application and supplying a false information to a licensed firearms dealer.
In 2018, Hunter Biden might have violated the law by lying on a firearm background check form administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The fine for doing so could be as much as $250,000 or ten years in prison. Form 4473 is typically filled out by people who want to purchase a gun from a retail store.

One of the questions on the application is about the buyer's use of illicit drugs, such as marijuana. Although states have legalized the use of marijuana, it is still considered a federal offense.
When an individual who is a user of illicit drugs submits the background check application and gets a pass, they are also in possession of a prohibited firearm. This is a severe offense that could lead to legal repercussions.
