Huntington Beach, the last fortress of conservatism in California, has put big kibosh on all those separate month-long celebrations for different identity groups. Oh, the folks in Surf City USA have had enough of that left-wing hoopla! That’s right, no more formal shindigs for Black History Month, Women’s History Month, or even Pride Month. Instead, the City Council wants to get everyone hyped about the town’s shared history.
The council is all about tradition, baby! They’re ditching the trendy identity commemorations in favor of celebrating the good ol’ days – you know, things like when the city was founded, the discovery of oil, and even showing some love for local libraries. Because who needs all that other stuff, right?

But don’t worry, all hope is not lost for those wanting to wave the identity flag. The council is talking about maybe bringing back those special celebrations in the future, but for now, they’re saying, “No thanks, we’re good.”
And if that ain’t enough to get the folks in Huntington Beach pumpin’ their fists, the city has been stickin’ it to the liberal state of California on everything from beach closures to mask and vaccine mandates. They’ve even given the ol’ “scoff” to those “sanctuary state” laws and mandatory low-income housing.
So, whip out those surfboards and catch a wave, because in Huntington Beach, the conservative spirit is ridin’ high!
