ICE Detains Pro-Hamas Activist Khalil, Faces Deportation Hearing In March

Pro-Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil found himself in hot water over the weekend after being snagged by ICE agents. This little escapade is the latest from a government trying to do its job—namely, deporting a foreign national who thinks it’s cute to lead pro-Hamas rallies at prestigious educational institutions. Khalil, being comfortingly held in a Louisiana facility, has an upcoming deportation hearing scheduled for March 27. His wife, a U.S. citizen, appears to be a tad upset about the whole situation considering her husband’s predilection for terror-supporting shenanigans.

While a crowd cheered for Khalil’s release, his attorney took to the podium to spin quite the yarn. The attorney claimed that Khalil was “kidnapped,” serving up tales of family devastation and heartstring pulling. As everyone knows, the real kidnappers are the ones on the other side of the world—Hamas, who specializes in abducting innocents, including fellow Americans. But Khalil’s wife would have folks believe that her husband is the real victim here. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so tragically misguided.

Much of the reaction has ranged from disbelief to outright mockery for the absurdity of the situation. Of course, he wasn’t kidnapped. Ask any Israeli who’s lost a loved one to Hamas; real kidnapping involves people getting shoved into the back of a truck and sent on a nightmare journey. This is the perfect illustration of leftist hypocrisy, as Khalil’s wife and supporters grumble about his “disappearance” all while completely ignoring the plight of numerous individuals currently being tortured by the organization her husband seems so fond of.

Where are the tears shed for the American hostages still languishing under the cruel grip of Hamas? There are no hashtags or protests for them. Instead, leftists rally around Khalil, flying banners of free speech while ignoring the fact that he isn’t even a legal citizen of the United States. It’s hard to argue for free speech when the message literally advocates for terrorism.

Some have suggested Khalil’s arguments about “free speech” are worthy of consideration. Yet the fact remains: Khalil is a foreign national, not entitled to the same protections as citizens. Claiming righteousness on First Amendment grounds is about as relevant as asking a cat for directions. Simply put, advocating for terror does not fall under the umbrella of free speech—especially when it comes from someone who doesn’t actually belong here.

The entirety of this situation serves as a reminder that actions have consequences. Khalil may find himself facing some real-world ramifications for his pro-Hamas antics, which is precisely how it should be. The only kidnapping happening here involves those innocent lives taken and held by a truly barbaric regime. It’s time for a reality check. Khalil’s actions do not scream “freedom” but rather “terrorism,” and Americans everywhere deserve to see the justice served appropriately.
