In Somalia’s capital, voters need a passport with a photo ID to cast their ballot, and results are wrapped up by nightfall. While America grapples with prolonged vote counts and debates over mail-in ballots, maybe there’s a thing or two we could learn from our friends across the ocean.
Meanwhile, back on home turf, there’s a growing chorus calling for clarity and accountability in our election processes. It’s been argued that, if you can’t get your ballot in by election day, it might be time for a tougher policy. After all, what’s so wrong with wanting finality and certainty on election night? Because, at the end of the day, making America fair again doesn’t just roll off the tongue; it requires action and a sprinkle of good old-fashioned common sense.
