Illinois’s Taxpayer Funds Used to Support Migrants at the Expense of Citizens
The liberals in Illinois have done it again! The state is shelling out a whopping $160 million more of taxpayers’ hard-earned money to cater to non-citizens who have arrived from the southern U.S. border. Can you believe it? While Illinoisans are struggling to make ends meet, the state is busy throwing money at folks who aren’t even supposed to be here in the first place.

In the last 15 months, over 24,000 non-citizens have found their way to Illinois, and instead of sending them packing, the state is generously spending hundreds of millions of dollars to look after them. Governor J.B. Pritzker proudly announced the state’s plan to allocate an additional $160 million through the Illinois Department of Human Services to support these migrants.
What’s more, Pritzker had the audacity to claim that the funds are a response to identified issues. He said something about a “comprehensive data-driven analysis” and services slowing down, but come on – isn’t the real issue the fact that they shouldn’t be here in the first place?
State Rep. David Friess, a voice of reason, called out the absurdity of using taxpayer dollars to care for people who are in the country illegally. He rightly pointed out that there are citizens who need housing and food, and they should be the priority, not the non-citizens. But the liberal agenda in Chicago seems to have different priorities.
The $160 million will be split among various uses, including a large intake center, winterized shelter site in Chicago, and expanded services for the shelters. It’s absolutely mind-boggling to see this kind of money being thrown around for individuals who shouldn’t even be in the state.
State Sen. Andrew Chesney is one of the few with the guts to stand against this madness. He’s calling on Pritzker to reconsider his plans and focus on taking care of those who actually live and pay taxes in Illinois. He rightly pointed out that weak border and immigration policies have led to this crisis, and the state’s liberal leadership is only exacerbating the situation by rolling out the welcome mat for non-citizens.
The icing on the cake is that Illinois has already spent more than $500 million on these migrants. That’s half a billion dollars! One can only wonder how much good could have been done for Illinois citizens with that kind of money.
It’s time for the governor and his ilk to wake up and realize that their duty is to the hardworking citizens of Illinois, not to those who have no right to be in the country. The people of Illinois deserve better, and it’s high time their voices are heard.
