J.D. Vance Wins Turning Point Action Straw Poll for Trump VP Slot

Senator J.D. Vance from Ohio hit the jackpot by winning a straw poll at Turning Point Action’s “People’s Convention,” where folks picked who they want to see as former President Donald Trump’s vice president. A whopping 43 percent of the 1,986 people surveyed at the event were all for Vance taking on the VP role alongside Trump. Charlie Kirk, the brain behind Turning Point USA, praised Vance, calling him one of Trump’s top supporters and advocates.

Others in the running for vice president according to the straw poll were Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina, Senator Marco Rubio from Florida, and Governor Doug Burgum from North Dakota. Scott got 15.4 percent of the vote, Rubio got 7.7 percent, and Burgum managed to gather seven percent, as reported by the news outlet.

Kirk gushed about Vance, emphasizing that he’s just the kind of guy to win over the blue-collar voters in the Midwest, a crucial voting bloc that could swing the election. Vance’s ability to resonate with these voters makes him the key to taking back the White House, Kirk explained.

Even during a chat on CNN’s Laura Coates Live, Ashley Etienne, who previously worked as a communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris, acknowledged Vance as a heavyweight who could give Harris a run for her money in debates. Etienne praised Vance’s debating skills and his charisma that makes him likable to a larger audience.

Vance has already shown his ability to snag votes, winning Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat in 2022. He focused his campaign on bringing back American manufacturing using tariffs and a tough industrial policy. A known ally of Trump, Vance has vehemently defended the former president, even calling accusations of endangering lives on January 6, 2021, as absurd. After Trump was found guilty in a Manhattan trial, Vance labeled it as fascism, standing by Trump through thick and thin.
