Jill Biden further claimed to have reached out to Melania Trump in the spirit of first-lady tradition, recounting how she extended an invitation for tea—an offer that was famously turned down by Mrs. Trump. It appears that Jill delivered a note of congratulation to Melania through Trump, making one wonder if Jill had temporarily traded in her political adversarial credentials for a touch of diplomacy. The mention of a note passed during a funeral certainly adds an interesting, if not slightly awkward, layer to her attempt at cordiality with the Trump family.
