Jill Biden asserted her dominance over her husband, Joe Biden’s family after he suffered two serious brain aneurysms back in 1988, a new book alleges. According to “American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden” by New York Times reporter Katie Rogers, Jill became the “full-fledged” decision maker regarding Joe’s health during his hospitalization at the Walter Reed Military Medical Center.

It’s no secret that the Biden family is no stranger to health scares. In the book, Rogers writes that Jill Biden firmly established herself as the one calling the shots in the family when it comes to Joe’s health. She reportedly had a heated confrontation with other members of the Biden family because they were discussing Joe’s medical options without including her in the decision-making process.
According to the book, Jill exclaimed, “He’s my husband. I should be making the decision here.” This fiery outburst apparently caught the attention of Joe Biden’s family, and even Joe’s mother agreed with Jill, ultimately putting Jill in charge of Joe’s care. The book points out that Biden hasn’t suffered another aneurysm in the 36 years since the incident.
The book also highlights the serious concerns about Joe’s cognitive functions being altered after his health scare. Doctors apparently gave him a 50/50 shot of surviving the aneurysms, and even if he did, there was a possibility he would have returned home with brain damage. Incredibly, their fears have materialized for some Americans in recent years.
This certainly wasn’t an easy time for Jill Biden, as she had to juggle her husband’s health crisis, their children, and her discomfort with public speaking. The book captures her struggle as she campaigned for Joe, despite her unease with public appearances, and supported their three children, Beau, Hunter, and Ashley, as they adjusted to life in Delaware.
The book also delves into Jill Biden’s role as the guardian of the Biden inner circle as her husband and son, Hunter, come under fire from conservatives. It portrays her as a “Philly girl” who is not to be reckoned with. With the release of “American Woman” looming, we may gain more insight into Jill Biden’s remarkable journey.
