House Speaker Mike Johnson made it clear that he wasn’t messing around when he declared that the Senate’s foreign aid and border security package was “dead on arrival.” And boy, did he have some strong words about it.
According to Johnson, there was no way the House could pass such a bill. He argued that it would only incentivize illegal immigration and fail to address the broken asylum system and parole process that have contributed to the current border crisis. And boy, are we in a crisis!

But it wasn’t just the provisions on immigration that got Johnson fired up. He also took aim at the proposed aid for Ukraine and Israel. He argued that while the American people should be running the show, President Biden seemed more interested in vetoing a standalone aid bill for Israel, our great ally. Johnson called it outrageous and pointed out that Israel is currently fighting for its very existence. Come on, Biden, get your priorities straight!
And let’s not forget about border security. Johnson insisted that Biden already has the authority to secure the border under existing law. He urged the president to use his power and suspend all entries into the country if he deems it necessary for the nation’s interest. It’s time to take action, Mr. President!
Despite some pushback from Senator James Lankford, who claimed opposition to the bill was fueled by “misinformation,” Johnson stood firm. He reiterated that the legislation was dead on arrival, and he meant it.
It’s refreshing to see a conservative leader like Johnson standing up for what he believes in. The American people deserve representatives who will fight for their interests and put a stop to this border catastrophe. Every state is a border state, and it’s time we start acting like it. Kudos to Johnson for making his voice heard in this heated debate. Let’s hope others in the House of Representatives follow his lead and put an end to this disastrous bill.
