In a shocking turn of events, a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. has returned a new indictment in its ongoing investigation into the events following the 2020 election. And guess who’s the defendant? That’s right, Donald J. Trump! The indictment remains sealed for now, but lucky for us, Townhall got their hands on a copy.

So, what’s he being accused of this time? Well, the indictment lists four violations: Conspiracy to Defraud the United States, Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding, Obstruction of and Attempt to Obstruct an Official Proceeding, and Conspiracy Against Rights. Yikes, sounds serious!
But wait, there’s more! Last week, Trump’s attorneys had a meeting with prosecutors and were told to “expect an indictment.” And wouldn’t you know it, Trump predicted all of this back in July. Talk about a soothsayer! Of course, he’s not taking it lying down. He recently took to Truth Social (his new favorite platform) to rant about it all. According to him, this is just another attempt by the “deranged” and “fake” Jack Smith to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election. Classic Trump, always blaming someone else!
In a longer statement, the Trump campaign called the indictment “corrupt” and accused the Biden Crime Family (their words, not mine) of trying to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election. They also questioned the timing of the indictment, wondering why they waited two and a half years to bring these charges. And of course, they couldn’t help but mention the “big Crooked Joe Biden scandal” that conveniently broke out the day before. What a coincidence!
So, what’s next? Well, Trump is expected to be arraigned in D.C. this Thursday. But don’t worry, despite all these legal battles, he’s still the dominant frontrunner in polls among Republican voters. Because who needs a law-abiding president anyway, am I right?
Oh, and let’s not forget about the money. All these legal battles are costing Trump and his supporters millions of dollars. In fact, the Trump campaign’s PAC spent over $40 million on legal fees in the first half of 2023 alone. That’s more than they raised in the same time period. But hey, at least they’re keeping those lawyers busy!
