Recent reports suggest that Vice President Kamala Harris is gearing up for her presidential campaign, but it seems she’s still searching for a solid game plan. According to Byron York from the Washington Examiner, Harris is set to attempt a narrative makeover regarding the border crisis. Apparently, it’s not enough for her to just show up for a photo op; now she wants to “flip the script” on one of the most pressing issues facing Americans today.
It is almost comical how Harris, having been tasked with solving the border situation since day one, finds herself scrambling for some semblance of an agenda. After a series of missteps and a complete lack of meaningful solutions, the idea of “flipping the script” could be interpreted as a desperate attempt to distract from her past failures. Perhaps in her book, avoiding responsibility and doing a little narrative gymnastics is strategy enough to woo voters.

As everyone knows, the border has been a catastrophe under Biden-Harris leadership, marked by record-high illegal crossings, a surge in drugs, and the burgeoning of cartels. But rather than roll up her sleeves and tackle this thorny issue head-on, Harris seems to believe that a clever rebranding campaign is the ticket to winning over skeptics. It’s as if the Vice President thinks she can polish a turd and call it gold—good luck with that!
Moreover, it appears that with the 2024 election looming, she’s banking on voter amnesia, hoping that the American public has forgotten her woeful record as the border czar. From her infamous “not my job” statements to her laughable attempts at addressing the root causes of migration, Harris’s approach has been less about solutions and more about dodging accountability. So, suggesting that she’s going to turn the pawn shop of incompetence into a shiny new dealership is indeed an ambitious proposal—if only it were rooted in reality.
The real question is whether voters will buy this narrative flip when they head to the polls. It doesn’t take a genius to see that simply changing the story does little to change the reality facing Americans. After all, when someone has consistently missed the mark, merely attempting to re-script the narrative may not be enough to convince skeptical voters. In a world where actions speak louder than words, Harris’s track record leaves a lot to be desired, and no amount of spin is going to change that.
