Kamala Harris continues to navigate the political minefield of her own creation as she tries to show her alleged support for Israel. The Vice President, who appears to have been granted a ticket to ride the political express by the Democrat establishment, seems to think that appointing a liaison to the Jewish community will magically erase her long-standing reputation for hostility toward Israel. However, her choice for this position raises more eyebrows than it should, especially since her new appointee might just be the most anti-Israel figure she could find.
Enter Ilan Goldenberg, the latest pawn in Harris’ attempt to win over the Jewish vote. Goldenberg isn’t just an average critic of Israel; he’s well-tied to organizations like J Street, known for its anti-Israel stance, and may as well have a “Keep Out” sign hanging over his head for any pro-Israel advocates. With a résumé that includes being a foreign policy advisor to Elizabeth Warren—another figure with unshakeable anti-Israel views—one has to wonder if Harris even bothered to check the background of her new buddy before throwing him into the spotlight.

The situation gets murkier when delving into Goldenberg’s policy views. Harris’ choice has previously championed a decision that undeniably aided Hamas’ deadly assault on Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023. His recommendation to bring in large numbers of Gazan workers to Israel didn’t just provide labor; it effectively turned them into spies for Hamas. While Harris may tout her new liaison as an olive branch, many see it as a blatant slap in the face to the Jewish community.
Harris’ previous remarks do little to bolster her credibility either. She has gone so far as to sing the praises of pro-Hamas campus demonstrators as if their actions were noble. The Vice President’s claims that Israel is solely responsible for the dire situation in Gaza ignore the inconvenient truth that Hamas has pilfered the aid meant for the people suffering there. Instead of holding Hamas accountable, Harris leans into the narrative that portrays Israel as the oppressor, blind to the reality that the real enemy lurks within the shadows of Gaza.
When it comes to the delicate dance of international relations, Harris appears to step on more toes than she should. After Israel neutralized a number of Hamas operatives hiding in an amply fortified mosque, she lamented the loss of civilian life—based solely on claims by Hamas. When the group is known to inflate casualty figures like a child playing with a balloon, one must question how Harris can’t recognize the flimsy nature of such assertions. Instead of standing by a true ally, she appears ready to pander to a narrative that suits her political agenda.
In a world where making an appointment can signal one’s political loyalties, the choice of Goldenberg suggests that Harris is intent on alienating pro-Israel Americans while cozying up to those more interested in echoing her leftist ideals. If this is her plan to gather support from the Jewish community, the backlash will be as loud as a New York City siren. The political landscape may be ever-changing, but one thing remains clear: Kamala Harris will likely face more than a few rocky days ahead.
