Vice President Kamala Harris is receiving a temporary boost from her peers in the Democratic Party following the abrupt departure of Joe Biden from the presidential race. It seems that the Democrats, who have been drowning in Biden’s lackluster leadership, are finally allowed to exhale. They’re not too thrilled about Harris being their standard-bearer, but at least they no longer need to defend the indefensible performance of their flailing commander-in-chief.
Despite Harris temporarily basking in this newfound sense of optimism, her history of blunders isn’t going anywhere. Known for being the only politician more prone to verbal fumbles than Biden, it’s only a matter of time before she becomes the focus of scrutiny once again. The left might be enjoying a brief respite, but as with all things in politics, a honeymoon phase rarely lasts—or it at least comes with some serious baggage.
The Trump-Vance campaign, ever the vigilant players, are already addressing the jiggle of this new polling bump that Harris is allegedly riding. In a recent memo, they pointed out that even if the Democrats and their media allies attempt to sell these polls as evidence of a shifted political landscape, the core issues plaguing voters remain unchanged. Inflation, crime, an open border, and a host of foreign affairs crises are just a few pressing concerns that won’t simply fade away because Harris has momentarily taken center stage. The truth is, her past actions—with her critical role in Biden’s spending sprees and lax border policies—are bound to resurface.
Kudos are due to Trump and his team, who have been demonstrating a level of smooth operation that makes many past conservative campaigns look like a circus. They’ve recognized the need to respond rapidly to shifting narratives, vowing to stay ahead of the curve rather than allowing themselves to be ambushed by Democratic spin jobs and fawning media coverage. Their proactive stance is a refreshing change, and it’s quite refreshing to see them not fall into the typical traps laid out by the opposition.

Harris might be enjoying her moment in the limelight, but she risks waking up sans makeup before too long. The American electorate will soon be reminded of her intimate partnership with Biden, alongside her rather liberal track record. Giving her a few days of grace does not cover up the fact that this is the woman who played an essential role in bringing about chaotic conditions at the border and skyrocketing inflation.
The honeymoon may be sweet for some, but it’s bound to sour as voters wise up to the reality of the Biden-Harris administration. Harris’ moment will likely dissipate when she’s confronted with her own legacy, and it won’t take long for the American people to pull back the curtain on her supposedly charming persona, exposing the truth of her policies and decisions.
