Kamala Harris Scrambles to Prove Biden’s Vitality on ’60 Minutes’

In a recent interview with Vice President Kamala Harris on “60 Minutes,” Americans were left feeling unfulfilled. While Harris assured viewers that President Joe Biden is “very much alive,” the real question at hand went unanswered. The interview, though filled with softball questions, shed more light on Harris than she probably intended.

Journalist Bill Whitaker broached the topic of Harris’s potential presidency if Biden chooses not to seek re-election in 2024. He mentioned that some Democratic donors were uncertain about Harris as the heir apparent and wondered why that might be. Whitaker’s question essentially asked, “Why is no one confident that you’re qualified to run if something happens to Biden?”

Harris had the opportunity to answer in many different ways without implying she was waiting for the president to keel over. However, she dodged the question altogether. It was quite bizarre that she didn’t provide a more concrete response.

Instead of addressing the concerns head-on, Harris could have said something like, “As vice president, I have been an integral part of this administration and am confident that Democrats would turn to me to continue working for the American people.” Of course, that statement would be far from the truth. Harris has repeatedly failed in significant assignments given to her, such as spearheading national “voting rights” laws and addressing the root causes of illegal immigration. More recently, Biden has put her in charge of the newly formed White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, a campaign undoubtedly aimed directly at the Second Amendment. It is likely to result in nothing more than generating empty talking points and potential regulations that will inevitably be challenged in court.

But at least it would have been something. Instead, Harris dodged the question entirely and focused on the fact that Biden is alive and running for re-election. When pushed further by Whitaker, Harris shut down the conversation entirely, claiming she had no time for “parlor games.”

The answer Harris provided during this interview was significantly different from her previous response to a similar question in September. At that time, she confidently expressed that she was prepared to step into the presidency if necessary. However, during the “60 Minutes” interview, she seemed nervous and evasive.

This interaction served as evidence that Harris is well aware of her limited support within the party, and her partnership with Biden is essentially built on mutual blackmail. When Biden selected Harris as his running mate, it was primarily due to pressure from the party’s left-wing to choose a black woman. Removing her from the equation would be politically impossible, and it’s unlikely that another black woman would be selected, as it would reveal their true intentions. Harris knows she owes her position to her skin color and gender. Sadly for her, it won’t take her any further, and she’s aware of that as well.

All in all, Harris’s response to Whitaker’s question only served to highlight her insecurities and the fragile foundation of the Biden-Harris partnership. It appears that the rest of the country knows more about Harris than she would like them to.
