Kamala Harris Turns to Hollywood Stars as Trump Gains in Arizona Polls

Kamala Harris has enlisted a cadre of Hollywood celebrities—all of whom have combined net worths exceeding $200 million—to rally support in Arizona as she scrambles to close the gap against former President Donald Trump, who’s consistently pulling ahead in the Grand Canyon State. A recent poll revealed that Trump led Harris by 48 percent to 42 percent, which had to be a cold shower for the vice president.

High-profile figures like Kerry Washington, Jessica Alba, and Glenn Close showed up in Phoenix for a glamorous campaign event. At the same time, Jennifer Garner took her own turn in the spotlight at a separate appearance. These star-studded efforts seem less about convincing everyday Americans and more about reminding folks that they can still feel inspired by actors who live lives so removed from the typical working-class experience.

While Washington, worthy of an estimated $50 million, touted the “power” of the crowd, it seems peculiar that she didn’t mention how that power might be spent on groceries, energy, or housing—essentials that have seen their prices balloon on Harris’s watch. Alba, another Hollywood heavy hitter with her $100 million net worth, lauded Harris for supposedly creating an “opportunity economy,” conveniently ignoring that families are struggling to make ends meet in an economy burdened by record inflation.

Voters in Arizona have other pressing concerns, particularly the never-ending flood of illegal immigration rampaging across the southern border under Harris’s tent. It must be nice in celebrity land, where the biggest problems involve awkward red-carpet moments while the everyday American grapples with skyrocketing living costs initiated by policies they champion.

Polls may change, but current data shows a decline in support for Harris. A Suffolk/USA Today survey highlights Trump’s growing lead, particularly in Maricopa County—the largest in the state—where he outpaces her by four points. Even a more favorable InsiderAdvantage poll for Democrats shows Trump maintaining a narrow edge, leaving political operatives eyeing the exits in Hollywood and Harris’s camp. With these trends in play, it seems the star-studded effort is less about serving the American people and more about a desperate plea for relevance.
