While Conway is clearly enthusiastic about Scott as a potential running mate, President Trump has not yet made a definitive decision. In a recent interview with Fox News, Trump mentioned both Scott and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as possible candidates but indicated that it would take some time before he announces his final decision. Trump applauded Scott’s loyalty and support, specifically noting his defense of the former president during the past week.
Tim Scott, who briefly ran for president in the past, garnered support from influential Republicans like Senate Minority Whip John Thune. Despite not becoming the Republican nominee, Scott has remained an ardent supporter of Trump. This loyalty was exemplified when Scott endorsed Trump over Nikki Haley, who appointed Scott to his Senate seat while serving as the governor of South Carolina.
