Nestled on a hillside, this impressive mansion is as lavish as it is unique, boasting a replica Statue of Liberty and a zoo’s worth of stuffed animals. But now, it seems, the mansion’s panoramic views are threatened by the dull routine of military protocol.
The hubbub started when two Army Apache helicopters decided to drop by for a friendly neighborhood twirl. Reports say that this spontaneous display of military camaraderie happened not far from Fort Campbell, a hopping stones’ throw from Kid Rock’s not-so-humble abode. From the sunny heights of his infinity pool, Kid Rock was seen saluting the choppers, in what some might call the ultimate greeting card for the land of the free and home of the brave.
However, instead of joining in the fun, the Army decided to investigate this playful sortie for potential rule breaches. Military bigwigs have deemed this unexpected air show as something needing a serious look-see. As if the skies over Nashville were hosting a covert air tattoo, and the rockstar’s saluting became an act of profound national security concern. Seriously, America?
It’s fascinating that these military flybys, seen over other less rock ‘n roll gatherings, didn’t seem to paddle into the waters of controversy. There’s even chatter of less-than-enthusiastic gestures aimed at the military from folks under different political umbrellas. But, while some flip birds, Kid Rock offers salutes and cigars. Meanwhile, the rocker is enjoying a zenith of popularity, riding high on the waves of a successful halftime show with alternative media outlet Turning Point USA. Kid Rock’s performance there outdrew even traditional juggernauts like the Super Bowl. Perhaps his unapologetic embrace of faith, his dedication to freedom, or his penchant for spectacular displays might explain why some groups gnash their teeth at him.
So, what’s the real problem here? A few choppers doing some air somersaults while a music legend sits poolside puffing on a cigar, or the fact that Kid Rock doesn’t fit neatly into the box some would prefer he stays in?
