Kimmel’s broadcast accused the “MAGA gang” of politicizing Kirk’s murder and attempted to link the suspect to conservative circles, despite evidence to the contrary. The blowback was immediate and intense—ABC suspended Kimmel’s show after public pressure and a firestorm of criticism from conservative leaders and viewers. Even President Donald Trump weighed in, celebrating ABC’s decision and highlighting the host’s declining ratings and perceived bias. Conservatives, who have long faced caricature and derision from mainstream Hollywood, see this episode as another blatant attempt to blame the right for violence they categorically condemn.
Defenders of Charlie Kirk are appalled that Kimmel would exploit this tragedy for partisan gain, twisting the facts and stoking more division rather than encouraging unity. Kirk was well known for advocating peaceful dialogue and common ground—traits the left often claims it champions.
