In a not-so-shocking turn of events at the White House, John Kirby, President Joe Biden’s national security spokesman, is seriously stepping up his game. Like, seriously. The realest U.S. official spilled the tea and revealed that Kirby is snagging an even fancier title, White House national security communications adviser, and is about to become an assistant to the president. Move over, folks, Kirby is taking the spotlight and shining bright like a diamond, or maybe more like a really powerful flashlight.
This whole hush-hush situation, which the bigwigs haven’t made official yet, was sneakily leaked to The Associated Press by an anonymous official. You know, the kind of official who just can’t keep a secret. And guess who spilled the deets first? Reuters, that’s who. Kirby strutted onto the White House scene in 2022 as the National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications, just when Karine Jean-Pierre snagged the title of White House press secretary after Jen Psaki bounced. Before Kirby’s grand entrance, the NSC was lacking a peep in that kind of gig.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Kirby’s got big plans to lead a whole separate squad from the national security press team, working their magic to shuffle all the info between agencies. You go, Kirby!
In case you didn’t know, Kirby is a retired U.S. Navy admiral. This dude has been making waves in the Biden administration, making foreign policy questions look like a walk in the park. He’s had some major gigs as the top dog spokesman at the Pentagon and the State Department back when Obama was running the show. Now, under Biden’s command, Kirby’s been rockin’ the White House press briefing room like it’s nobody’s business. And guess what? He’s not planning on ghosting those briefings anytime soon. Nope, Kirby’s sticking around like a bad case of the hiccups.
