Labor Summit Scam? GOP Subpoenas Biden Ally!

The House Education and Workforce Committee Chairwoman, Virginia Foxx, a staunch supporter of good ol’ conservative values, has had it up to here with those sneaky Democrats and their taxpayer-funded shenanigans! She’s gone and subpoenaed acting Labor Secretary Julie Su for withholding information about a summit that might have been nothing more than a fancy pep rally for President Biden and his cronies before the 2022 midterm elections. Can you believe the nerve?

Foxx, being the no-nonsense lady she is, hasn’t taken kindly to Su ignoring not one, not two, but FOUR requests for documents related to this suspicious event. She told The Post, “The fact that the Committee must issue a subpoena to compel the agency to do its job and be forthcoming is outrageous.” You tell ’em, Virginia!

Now, what’s all the fuss about, you ask? Well, it seems some folks are concerned that the Department of Labor may have been up to some funny business – wasteful, self-aggrandizing funny business, to be exact. Foxx and her Republican colleagues suspect that taxpayer dollars might have been used for political promotion rather than important things like creating jobs and boosting the economy. Oh, the horror!

But it doesn’t end there, folks. Foxx and her buddies are also miffed about the lack of transparency surrounding this summit. They’ve been asking questions since October 2022, but it’s been like pulling teeth to get any straight answers. They even poked around during a congressional hearing in September, demanding to know what the heck was going on. Assistant Secretary of Labor Liz Watson tried to appease them with some letters, but Foxx wasn’t buying it – she called the information “incomplete”. Someone’s been playing hard to get, it seems.

And if all that wasn’t enough, Su, the acting Labor Secretary, hasn’t even been confirmed by the Senate yet. The nerve of her to be running the show without a proper stamp of approval! Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) has had it up to here as well and thinks President Biden should just pull the plug on Su’s nomination if she can’t get her act together and get confirmed already.

But wait, there’s more! The Government Accountability Office had to swoop in and issue a report, just to sort out this whole mess. They found that, legally speaking, Su isn’t breaking any rules by holding onto the acting secretary role without a time limit. Can you believe it? It’s like a comedy of errors, but not very funny at all!

The folks over at the Labor Department haven’t made a peep about all this hubbub yet, but you can be sure this drama is far from over. Stay tuned for the next episode of “Republicans vs. The Sneaky Democrats: Summitgate Edition”.
