Larry David, of “Seinfeld” fame, once known for his comedic prowess, has turned his creativity into something far less amusing: a scathing and unintentionally dull attack on Bill Maher for daring to dine with President Trump. In a futile attempt to equate a dinner at the White House with an evening with Hitler, David misses the mark on what matters—substance over empty comparisons.
This latest debacle unfolded in the liberal melting pot of ideas known as The New York Times, where he’s joined the ranks of those who lazily resort to comparing Trump to history’s most reviled figures. Such tired theatrics only distract from the issues face our nation, leaving one to wonder if the left has abandoned its search for real solutions in favor of pandering to its echo chamber.

Let’s not forget what Easter is truly about: the resurrection of Christ and the hope it brings. Yet, the left seems more inclined to scoff at such significant events in favor of superficial narratives. By spinning tales devoid of real humor or insight, David demonstrates the kind of elitist disregard that has made Middle America weary of liberal mockery.
David’s attempt to paint Maher’s dinner with Trump as a moral failing is rich. Is it wrong to engage in dialogue with those we disagree with? Certainly, bridging divides and understanding different perspectives is more constructive than hiding behind partisan jabs and ideological purity.
In a world where optics matter more than ever, David’s commentary only highlights the ever-present liberal hypocrisy. For a party claiming to represent progress and tolerance, attacking those who break bread with ideological foes only pushes us further to division. Instead of striving for clever repartee, David’s essay ends up as another underwhelming narrative—much like a bad “Seinfeld” episode, it promises more than it delivers. Why obsess over a dinner when Americans have a country to save?
