Recent investigations have taken an unexpected turn, with some journalists beginning to question if those labeled as terrorists in attacks on democracy might actually be part of a much larger, leftist agenda. In a dramatic twist that could only happen on the West Coast, reports surfaced about IEDs marked with slogans like “Free Palestine,” raising eyebrows among those wanting to know whether these were simply the handiwork of disillusioned leftists or a product of genuine political dissent.
The left-leaning media might have a double standard here. If the words “MAGA” had been scrawled instead, the headlines would have screamed about the rise of domestic terrorism faster than a dog chasing a squirrel. Instead, the media, with its usual sleight of hand, suggests that perhaps this act is just a misunderstood cry for help from someone influenced by the liberal activist crowd. That kind of thinking seems a bit generous when compared to the immediate rush to label anyone at the Capitol on January 6 as insurrectionists.

In a riveting subplot, local officials are busy analyzing the remnants of explosive devices tied to ballot boxes in Oregon and Washington. The authorities suspect these incidents are connected, but whether to assign blame to Antifa, a disgruntled progressive, or some other group remains a tantalizing mystery. Meanwhile, the media is tiptoeing around what seems to be a blatant case of political sabotage, asking if the anti-Israel slogans were merely a distraction or an indication of deeply ingrained anti-Semitism.
Imagine if the shoe were on the other foot. If these devices had been linked to someone waving a “Trump 2024” banner, the story would be clear-cut. There would be less questioning and a whole lot more finger-pointing. The narrative would speak of a rising tide of right-wing extremism, with plenty of hand-wringing from the left, demanding investigations into Trump’s supposed “influence.” Yet here, as reports come in linking pro-Palestinian sentiment to acts of vandalism, the media is hesitating to draw the same conclusions.
The irony is delicious. Here we have funds flowing from the usual Democratic elites—think George Soros and other mega-donors—fueling pro-Palestinian activism on campuses and in protests across America. Meanwhile, these same affluent figures want to lecture the rest of America on unity and morality. It seems the left is quite adept at hurling insults about “attacks on democracy” while simultaneously staging their theatrical productions of unrest. The fact that the same radicals have become so emboldened in their expression of violence only highlights the hypocrisy nestled comfortably in their ideology.
With all this swirling around, one can’t help but wonder if the left is truly prepared to hold itself accountable. The Portland police are left with the task of investigating these IED incidents against the backdrop of a media landscape that seems far more sympathetic to the rogue dissenters than to the principles of law and order. By this logic, any act of violence framed through a progressive lens becomes increasingly difficult to condemn. Perhaps it’s time for the left to face the music rather than continue manufacturing their own reality, especially as Novembers approach and the stakes get higher.
