In the latest installment of political theater, the far Left’s hysteria has hit a boiling point, culminating in an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally. In what should be a moment of reflection on the nation’s need for civil discourse, one can almost predict the mainstream media’s downplaying of the event. If it were any other figure, particularly a Democrat, there would be endless round-the-clock coverage, with pundits lamenting the toxic political climate. But alas, it’s Trump—a man who has been the Left’s boogeyman since the day he announced his candidacy.
It’s becoming painfully clear that certain factions on the Left are no longer content with just attempts to malign and impeach Trump. The violent tendencies that have been brewing beneath the surface have erupted, with radicals now taking direct action. One could almost hear the virtual applause from radical Twitter mobs, who’ve been spewing vitriol ever since their dreams of a socialist utopia were stymied by Trump’s policies.

Had this happened to any darling of the liberal elite, imagine the swift and draconian measures that would be called for. New legislation for security measures, immediate FBI task forces, and emotional op-eds would flood the scene. Instead, there’s a deafening silence, save for a few half-hearted condemnations, likely written with gritted teeth. They’ve wanted him out of the picture for so long that any pretense of empathy feels insincere at best.
Meanwhile, everyday Americans—those “deplorables” who have had enough of establishment politics—continue to rally behind Trump more fervently than ever before. To them, he’s the only one standing up to the swamp, and this heinous attempt on his life only solidifies their support. It would do well for the liberal media and political elites to take note: every attempt to sideline Trump, whether through scandals or violence, only galvanizes his base further.
In times like these, it’s vital to ask who benefits from such actions. Trump stands as a bulwark against the radical Left agenda, and an assault on his life is not just an assault on a man, but on a movement. Maybe, just maybe, the Left will realize that their relentless demonization of Trump is not just failing but backfiring. But knowing them, that’s probably too much to ask.
