Liberal Outrage Exposed: The Left’s Hypocrisy on Military Strikes

Americans woke up to seismic news at the end of February 2026 when coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes shattered the regime’s command structure in Tehran, a campaign that state and international outlets reported killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many top commanders. That decisive blow, carried out on Feb. 28, 2026, was described by officials as necessary to degrade Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities and to protect the region from further aggression.

On the March episodes of The View, co-host Sunny Hostin loudly condemned those strikes as “illegal and unconstitutional,” a take that set off a predictable display of liberal moralizing until Elisabeth Hasselbeck — filling in as a guest — bluntly called her out on the air. The exchange exposed what conservatives have long said: the left’s outrage often depends on which team is holding the gavel, not on consistent principles of law or safety.

Hasselbeck did what the mainstream press rarely does — reminded Hostin and viewers that past presidents, including Barack Obama in Libya, acted without congressional pre-approval and received little of the righteous indignation now aimed at a president who finally chose to strike back. That historical context matters because it reveals hypocrisy, not an error in judgment; if Hostin’s fury is genuine, it would apply across administrations, but the record shows selective memory is the media’s favorite pastime.

This isn’t the first time Hostin has taken a soft line on America’s friends and a hard line on their enemies; she previously criticized Israel for preemptive actions while sidestepping the clear, existential threats posed by Tehran. That pattern of commentary reads less like principled legal analysis and more like a partisan script — performative grief meant to score cultural points rather than defend American interests or the lives of allies.

Conservative Americans who prize strength shouldn’t be confused with bloodlust; we demand clarity, competence, and ends that leave our country safer. The media’s reflexive theater of outrage does nothing to help the troops on the ground, the diplomats trying to contain escalation, or the millions in the Middle East who’ve suffered under the ayatollahs for decades.

If the Left wants to lecture about constitutions and congressional prerogatives, let them do so honestly and consistently — not pick-and-choose based on which president they despise. For now, hardworking patriots will stand behind decisive action that defends liberty, call out performative media hypocrisy when we see it, and insist that Washington use every legal tool to secure our nation and protect our people.
