Univision, the usually left-leaning Spanish-language network, is facing backlash from liberals and the corporate press for daring to interview former President Donald Trump. This isn’t the first time leftists have thrown a tantrum over Trump appearing on a network. Back in May, CNN hosted a town hall with Trump and allowed him to speak, causing a meltdown within the network. CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour even criticized her own employers in a speech that ultimately led to the downfall of the network’s CEO Chris Licht. But here’s the thing, these networks are in the business of drawing viewers, and Trump is ratings gold. He brings in the numbers that these struggling networks desperately need.

But liberals don’t actually want to engage in a debate or hear opposing voices. They just want to shut down anyone who doesn’t align with their narrative. Actor John Leguizamo went on a rant about Trump on Univision, urging other actors, artists, politicians, and activists to boycott the network. Leguizamo also penned an opinion piece for the Los Angeles Times claiming that Univision was betraying its Spanish-speaking viewers by interviewing Trump. Isn’t it discriminatory to assume that all Spanish-speaking people have the same opinion? Democracy requires a free press and an exchange of ideas, but these leftists just want to censor and cancel anyone they disagree with.
The Washington Post even joined in on the outrage, reporting that Latino advocacy groups protested the Univision interview and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus demanded a meeting with the network. The liberal hosts on The View also chimed in, calling for Latinos to hold Univision accountable. It’s clear that the left wants to silence and cancel anyone who doesn’t toe their line. Disagreeing with a candidate’s views is one thing, but trying to silence them entirely goes against the principles of free speech and democracy. But I guess the left only believes in free speech when it aligns with their agenda.
