Rep. Ted Lieu, the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to showing off his lack of understanding, recently took a swing and a miss at former President Donald Trump’s wealth. Lieu decided to play armchair financial analyst and claimed that if Trump can’t easily whip out the cash for a legal judgment, he must not really be a billionaire. Now, that’s just plain silly! Money tied up in assets is not the same as having stacks of cash under your mattress, Ted. It seems like Lieu skipped out on basic Economics 101.
But hold on, the dunk party was just getting started! Mark Cuban, not exactly a MAGA fan, still felt the need to enlighten Lieu on the facts of life when it comes to wealth. Cuban pointed out that many wealthy individuals don’t keep a ton of liquid assets just chilling in the bank, especially with low interest rates. It’s all about playing the game of wealth to maximize returns, something Lieu seems clueless about.
And then Cenk Uygur from The Young Turks swooped in with a bigger hammer and pointed out just how unfair it was to force Trump to fork over a massive bond before his appeal is even decided. It’s like betting the farm before the game’s even started. Uygur made a solid case that this isn’t about justice but rather a calculated move to bleed Trump dry.
