Democratic Senator Joe Manchin unleashed a scathing critique of President Joe Biden, accusing him of veering too far to the left and jeopardizing his chances of being reelected. The West Virginia lawmaker, who had considered launching a third-party presidential bid, didn’t hold back in his assessment of his own party’s leader. At a Politico event, he didn’t mince words, expressing his concerns about Biden’s leftward shift and its potential impact on the upcoming presidential election.
Manchin didn’t shy away from voicing his disappointment, emphasizing that he has been vocal about his reservations from the very beginning. He made it abundantly clear that he believes Biden’s current trajectory is a recipe for electoral disaster. Gesturing to the left, he cautioned that this path was not the route to re-election and implored Biden to return to the centrist positions that garnered support during his campaign.

The senator went on to emphasize that his public statements echo the sentiments he has conveyed to Biden in private discussions. While revealing that he maintains communication with the president, he remained elusive about the frequency and timing of their conversations.
Manchin’s reproach of Biden is not an isolated incident, as he has consistently criticized the administration’s progressive stance on issues such as immigration and the environment. Despite his refusal to endorse former President Donald Trump, Manchin has yet to throw his support behind Biden, leaving the possibility of his endorsement up in the air.
