Marilyn Mosby Seeks Biden Pardon, Claims Political Targeting After Fraud Convictions

Former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby is asking President Biden to pardon her of perjury and fraud convictions she received while in office. Mosby, who is awaiting sentencing, believes the convictions were politically motivated. She has openly supported an online petition calling for her pardon, which has garnered over 11,000 signatures.

Mosby was convicted of perjury in November for allegedly lying about experiencing financial hardship during the pandemic in order to withdraw money from her city retirement account, which she then used to purchase two vacation homes in Florida. In February, she was found guilty of mortgage fraud for allegedly making false statements on mortgage applications for the two homes.

Despite the impending sentencing that could result in up to 40 years in prison, Mosby maintains her innocence. She argues that no public funds were misused and insists that she has done nothing wrong. She also claims that she was targeted for the progressive actions she took while in office, and insists that the investigation into her finances and personal life was meant to deter her both personally and professionally.
