Mayorkas in Hot Water After Meeting Slandered Border Agents: Epic Fail!

In a demonstration of poor leadership, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas refused to apologize to the group of Border Patrol agents who were falsely accused of whipping illegal migrants. The agents, who met privately with Mayorkas on Wednesday, were wrongly accused after photos and videos circulated showing them on horseback blocking Haitian migrants from entering the U.S. illegally in Del Rio, Texas.

Prominent Democrats, including President Joe Biden and California Rep. Maxine Waters, claimed that the agents had mistreated the migrants. Mayorkas initially backed the Border Patrol agents but later changed his tune, stating that “any mistreatment or abuse of a migrant is unacceptable” and that the images troubled him. However, an internal investigation found no evidence of whipping, and it was revealed that the agents had been using split reins, a standard tool used by mounted personnel to guide the horse.

Despite the accusations being debunked, the agents were disciplined for undefined “administrative violations.” Mayorkas did not apologize during the meeting with the agents, instead allowing them to share how the incident affected their lives and careers. This lack of accountability and apology from Mayorkas is an insult to the agents who have been wrongly accused and disciplined.

The tensions between Border Patrol and the Biden administration continue to persist as the number of illegal migrant encounters at the southern border reaches staggering levels. The lack of solutions from the administration and the demonization of the agents are eroding morale among Border Patrol. It is clear that these agents are facing a thankless job and deserve better treatment from the Biden administration.
